I must efficiently curate health information to provide high-quality patient care and keep current in healthcare as a nurse. Systematic and structured information retrieval and management is my approach.
My first step in information curation is a thorough search. Depending on the urgency and nature of the material, I may contact trusted colleagues or do formal research. I use PubMed, CINAHL, and Up-To-Date for peer-reviewed publications and evidence-based recommendations.
The quality of the information I obtain is crucial. I closely evaluate sources to guarantee data accuracy. I value peer-reviewed journals and recognized organization rules. I also like recent research and recommendations that follow best practices due to author trustworthiness and information currency.
I organize useful information systematically. I organize articles, guidelines, and research papers in topic-specific digital folders. I utilize reference management software like EndNote to organize and search for references. This lets me easily find relevant patient treatment, research, or professional growth material.
As a tool for curation of health information, I use digital technologies to curate health information. This includes:
Reference management software: EndNote organizes, stores, and cites relevant references easily.
Academic Search Engines: I use Google Scholar, PubMed, and CINAHL for systematic literature searches of desired health system
Note-Taking Apps: Evernote helps capture and annotate keynotes and article excerpts.
Cloud Storage: I use Google Drive or Dropbox for device backup and access.
